Cold temperatures and couldn’t slow down the Hauppauge United girls soccer team as they powered their way to an impressive 5–0 victory over Plainview with a complete team effort from start to finish.

From the opening whistle, United brought energy, determination, and relentless hustle. On the offensive side, Alexa Perlstadt, Emma Pinelli, Julia Wilson, Brooklyne Vertucci, Edith Arevalo-Flores, Kensie Buscher, and Kika McDermott set the tone early by consistently getting to the ball first and keeping the pressure on Plainview’s defense.

Alexa Perlstadt stood out with her exceptional ball control and smart distribution, repeatedly creating opportunities and setting up her teammates for success. Emma Pinelli showed tremendous grit throughout the match and delivered several excellent corner kicks, placing the ball perfectly into dangerous scoring areas.

Defensively, Ashley Leinz, Tenley Jensen, Kaitlyn Asseng and Juliana Bradbury were absolutely rock solid. They held their defensive line with confidence and determination, shutting down attacks and making sure nothing got through. Tenley Jensen made numerous key plays, winning tackles and helping transition the ball forward, while Kaitlyn Asseng played fearlessly by cutting off angles and stopping opposing attacks before they could develop. Juliana Bradbury cut off several key plays and her speed and smarts came in clutch showing great confidence and versatility as both an outside midfielder and defender. Behind them, captain goalkeeper Riley Franco was outstanding, making several incredible diving saves and preserving the shutout with confidence and composure.

United got on the board first when Kika McDermott stayed alert and buried a rebound for the opening goal. Shortly after, Ashley Leinz won a strong tackle, pushed the ball up the field, and launched a beautiful shot over the goalkeeper’s head for United’s second goal.

The third goal came after Julia Wilson fired a shot that was deflected by the goalie, but Kika McDermott was perfectly positioned to finish the rebound for her second goal of the game.

Ashley Leinz added another goal with an impressive individual effort, stepping to the ball, winning a battle, using her speed to drive upfield, and calmly placing her shot into the right corner. To close out the scoring, Kensie Buscher showed strength and confidence by winning the ball, faking out the defense, and finishing with power to seal the 5–0 win.

Across the field, Edith Arevalo-Flores battled hard on offense and was strong on the ball, while speedy Julia Wilson and Brooklyne Vertucci created several key chances keeping the Plainview goalie on her toes! They all covered the field end-to-end, contributing on both sides of the ball with speed, hustle, and precise passing.

It was a true team performance in difficult conditions, with every player stepping up and contributing to a well-earned victory. Hauppauge United proved that no matter the weather, their determination and teamwork continue to shine.
