It was perfect soccer weather for the much-anticipated matchup between Hauppauge United and the first-place Carle Place Courage, and United came ready to make a statement. From the opening whistle, the girls played with intensity, teamwork, and heart—proving they belong at the top of the standings in the Premier Division.

The offensive line of Alexa Perlstadt, Brooklynne Vertucci, Tenley Jensen, Emma Pinelli, and Julia Wilson set the tone early, dominating possession and winning key battles in the midfield. Their smart passing and give-and-go plays kept Carle Place on their heels. The breakthrough came when defender Daniella Pinzon pushed up the field, beating several players before crossing the ball beautifully to Alexa Perlstadt, who buried it in the net for the first goal.

United’s momentum didn’t stop there. After a tough defensive stand from Kaitlyn Asseng, she sent the ball to Kika McDermott, who showcased her incredible footwork—dodging defenders, cutting inside, and firing a shot past the keeper to make it 2–0.

Midfielder Edith Arevalo-Flores showed great bravery and hustle, trapping high balls and fighting for every possession. Emersyn Drake brought energy and grit, always providing options for her teammates. Kensie Buscher battled hard, using her physicality and smart decision-making to maintain control. Emma Pinelli commanded the center of the field, while Brooklynne Vertucci and Julia Wilson worked the wings, creating countless scoring opportunities. Tenley Jensen was relentless—her speed and determination led to several key tackles and well-placed passes.

In the second half, Kika McDermott was fouled on a breakaway, earning a penalty kick. She confidently stepped up and drilled a powerful shot into the low right corner—her second goal of the day. Later, Tenley Jensen took a perfectly curved corner kick that sailed just out of the goalie’s reach and into the net, sealing the 4–1 victory for Hauppauge.

United’s defensive lineKaitlyn Asseng, Ashley Leinz, and Daniella Pinzon—was rock-solid, cutting off angles and shutting down Carle Place’s scoring chances. Ashley Leinz used her speed and grit to clear the ball to the offense, while Kaitlyn Asseng stayed poised and in perfect position to back up her teammates. Daniella Pinzon never let up, fighting for every ball until the final whistle.

Between the posts, goalkeeper Riley Franco was unstoppable. With multiple diving saves and confident direction from the back, she anchored the defense and kept Carle Place at bay. Franco was smart, confident, and precise with her decision-making.

When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard read 4–1 Hauppauge United, a thrilling upset against the division’s top team. Their teamwork, determination, and grit proved that Hauppauge United is a force to be reckoned with this season.
