Weathering the Storm: Hauppauge United Finishes the Season Strong with 3-1 Triumph

Neither cold nor rain could dampen the fire that Hauppauge United brought to the field in their final match of the season. Facing off against the tough Sachem Slammers, United delivered a gritty and inspiring 3-1 victory, showcasing heart, hustle, and teamwork in every corner of the field.

The game started with fierce energy from United’s front line—Alexa Perlstadt, Emma Pinelli, and Tenley Jensen—who pressed high and moved the ball with purpose. Despite an early goal from Sachem, the girls didn’t fold. Instead, it lit a fire. United turned up the intensity, pushing forward and fighting for every inch of wet turf.

The defense, anchored by Kika McDermott, Ashley Leinz, and Kaitlyn Asseng, was rock solid. Their tough tackles and well-timed clearances kept Sachem from capitalizing on the slippery conditions, while also setting up the attack with smart plays out of the back.

Momentum swung when Emma Pinelli, refusing to be denied, used her strength and footwork to break through and take a blistering shot—GOAL! Her equalizer brought the score to 1-1 and brought the crowd to life.

United wasn’t done. After a Sachem goal kick, Kika McDermott went on a dazzling run, beating multiple defenders before sending a perfect cross into the box. There was Kensie Buscher, cool and ready, finishing the play with a clean touch to make it 2-1.

In goal, Riley Franco put on a clinic. She stayed sharp and focused throughout the match, making several key saves, including full-extension dives to deny Sachem any chance of a comeback.

The final blow came in epic fashion. Kika McDermott, once again rising to the moment, started a counter-attack from the defensive line and raced upfield, slicing through defenders and finishing with a beautiful shot that was deflected by the Sachem goalie. But Kika was right there to get her own rebound and find the back of the net. That goal sealed the 3-1 victory and capped off a dominant performance.

Other standout moments included Aleyna Horsanli and Emma Pinelli’s impressive chemistry on the attack, Tenley Jensen’s all-around contributions on both ends of the field playing several positions, and Ashley Leinz’s weapon-like throw-ins that created several offensive chances.

From start to finish, Hauppauge United played with determination, unity, and heart—ending their season not just with a win, but with a performance to be proud of.

YEA UNITED!
