The Hauppauge Boro soccer team is heating up at just the right time.
In their second-to-last match of the season, Boro hit the road to face Patchogue-Medford and delivered a dominant 8-3 victory, extending their winning streak to two games and building serious momentum heading into the season finale.
From the opening whistle, Boro set the tone. Fueled by intensity and sharp execution, they wasted no time putting Pat-Med on their heels. Leo Damari opened the scoring in sensational fashion, breaking away deep from Boro’s end and sprinting past defenders before calmly finishing to make it 1-0. Not long after, Xander Basso unleashed a powerful long-range strike that doubled the lead.
A brief defensive lapse allowed Pat-Med to claw one back, closing the gap to 2-1. But Boro responded with composure and confidence. Owen Cousins converted off a well-placed corner kick, and Richie Kunkel capitalized on a deflection to stretch the lead to 4-1 before halftime.
The second half was all Boro.
Their relentless pace and high-pressure attack overwhelmed the Pat-Med defense. Caleb Cabales added his name to the scoresheet, followed by a second goal from Leo Damari. Anthony Fasanello turned up the heat even more with two goals of his own, sealing an emphatic 8-goal performance for the visiting side.
Despite two more late goals from Pat-Med, the outcome was never in doubt. With creativity on the ball, physicality off it, and clinical finishing from multiple players, Boro delivered one of their strongest performances of the season.
Now riding a two-game win streak, Boro heads into the final week of the season looking to make it three straight and end on a high. If they keep playing like this, there may be no stopping them.
