Boys 13U RUSH isn’t just a team. It’s a fraternity — Small-town kids taking down powerhouse clubs while playing for their town, their brothers, and their pride.
You learn a lot about a youth soccer team and a program when they transition from 9v9 developmental play to full-field 11v11. It takes real player depth and strong relationships within an age group, especially in a small town like Hauppauge. And then, when those efforts lead to consistent, positive results, it creates lasting memories for the boys.
Over the past year, we’ve continued to learn more about this Hauppauge Rush Boys 13U team, comprised of multi-sport athletes and prominent personalities. Years ago, this group was asked to take on more, joining the EDP league instead of the standard LIJSL. It was a unique step for a small school—a pilot effort within Hauppauge’s travel program—done with the understanding that it would mean a tougher slate of games against academy teams and larger school programs.
A dominant 4-1 home win on June 1st against first-place SUSA secured Rush a 2nd place finish in the 1st Division of the EDP North Atlantic League. They’re now looking at another promotion opportunity within EDP.
This comes on the heels of their Memorial Day tournament trip to FC Delco with the Hauppauge Club—an impressive run that ended in a 3-1 loss after reaching a fourth-straight semifinal appearance.
There’s always a better team out there. But it feels good walking up and down the opposing sideline at tournaments and league games, knowing that the parents and kids from academy teams might not even realize who they’re spending the weekend competing against. And if you’re going to be knocked out by “Team Embassy Suites,” you might as well do it with your hometown crew—family, friends—and still get it done on the field.
As the spring season closes, the brotherhood is grateful for the club’s renewed efforts, our parent volunteers, and the unwavering commitment of our trainers to help the boys get the most out of themselves.
The boys are looking forward to their annual end-of-season Hauppauge Rush party, which, as always, is expected to feature homemade brick oven pizza, hot chicken, and a full DJ setup. All pretty consistent with what they’ll see if they ever rush a frat.
The following families and players contribute week in and week out to the Rush soccer fraternity: Ali, Anspach, DiClemente, Iamunno, Irwin, Lukasik, Mannino, Martinez, Miller, Narcisse, O’Brien, Poulos, Rodriguez, Scanlan, Schwarting, Terranova, and White.
